  2. Subject: Mods for the Ranger RCI-2970 10 meter radio.

  4. Frequency Coverage Modification:

  6. 1. Remove the top cover to get to the PC board with the jumper pins.
  7.    They will be on a PC board immediately behind the front panel.
  8.  
  9. 2. Locate the jumper pins, they are on the left side if you are looking
  10.    at the front of the radio. There are an upper and a lower set of two 
  11.    pins. There will be a jumper on the lower set of pins (factory 
  12.    setting).

  14. 3. Move the jumper from the lower set of pins to the upper set of pins
  15.    to expand coverage to 26 MHz - 30 MHz. The radio will read out in 
  16.    both MHz and CB channels. A couple of the function keys will act 
  17.    slightly different than described in the manual. You'll figure it out.

  19. 4. If you remove the jumper entirely, frequency coverage changes to 
  20.    27.965 MHz - 27.405 MHz with CB channel and MHz readout. Some of the 
  21.    function keys will act different than described in the manual. You'll
  22.    figure it out.

  24. 5. To return the radio to factory settings, move the jumper from the 
  25.    upper set of pins to the lower set of pins.
